Dr. Steven J. King, M.D., Ph.Dis an internal medicine physician as well as a pediatrician who specialized in gastroenterology. Dr. King focuses on preventative care for the entire family, from newborns to grandparents. At Washington State University, Dr. King completed his undergraduate and Ph.D. As a Human and Anatomy professor at U.A.B., he decided to pursue medical school. He completed residencies in both internal medicine and pediatrics followed by a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology with further studies in liver transplantation. Most importantly, he treasures his wife and children.


When not working, he enjoys his horses, Patrick and Trigger.

Each member of our cheerful staff shares the same goal of providing quality and personalized care to every member of your family. We provide general medical services for all ages, from newborns to seniors. Due to his experience as a gastroenterology specialist, Dr. King is also willing to advise patients in this area as well.  

Solid Oak Adult and Pediatric

Vivi Tucker, P.N.P. is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from Auburn University, receiving a BSN.  She worked for 5 years as a nurse at UAB's Continuing Care Nursery. Vivi obtained a Master's in Nursing at UAB and she started her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner career with Dr. King in Pediatric Gastroenterology, followed by pediatric primary care for 8 years.  Vivi gained experience in Pediatric Urgent Care as a clinician treating acute care pediatric patients: suture repair, stabilizing fractures, and common childhood illnesses.   Vivi is excited to return home to Solid Oak Adult and Pediatric to support  Dr. King and his wonderful practice. She looks forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting the families and children of the latest generation.


Vivi enjoys attending services and small groups at Church of the Highlands,  spending time with  her family, and fostering infants in Jefferson County.  

Brittany Christian, C.R.N.P. is a Family Nurse Practitioner who believes in caring for patients holistically; meeting physical, mental, and spiritual needs. She received her BSN from the University of Alabama. She worked as an ER nurse at Children’s of Alabama for 6 years then went to pursue her DNP at Samford University. She completed a residency program through Samford University and spent 3 years at Christ Health Center treating and managing acute and chronic diseases for patients of all ages. Brittany is thrilled to get to know and help care for Dr. King’s patients and be a part of the Solid Oak family.


Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her two young children and husband.
